The Flaming Lake, 2015
single-channel video without sound

A euphoric drowning in Lake Erie.
The inside of a disco ball.
The death and rebirth of Cleveland.

A material focus of mine is the real-space simulation of computer-generated special effects, 3D modeling, and animation. I have achieved this with a handwoven textile I create using mirrored mylar. Slow-motion video of the textile in real-space becomes a skewed pixel matrix that resembles what I imagine to be the warped interior of a disco ball Tardis. The majority of this footage is shot on a phone while I physically manipulate the woven mylar in natural light. There is no other post- processing used. This iteration was designed for a large scale outdoor led array with no sound.
